In May 2011, we embarked on our biggest adventure with the kids. 3 months driving from San Diego, California to Chicken, Alaska and back again through the Canadian and US Rockies in a rented RV. We had so many adventures – back country camping in Denali NP, canoeing the Yukon River, searching the tide pools of Northern California, hiking in Yosemite, Yellowstone and the Tetons NP’s, making friends in Banff and taking ferries along the inside passage. We spotted so many bears and bald eagles that the kids were sick of them by the end of the trip.
After returning our home of 3 months we bought a beat up old Chevy Suburban and our journey continued as we drove to Chicago from San Jose off the free ways, through more national parks, deserted towns and weird rest stops.
